Devnagiri /Devnagari/ Hindi Tattoo Translations For Free
Well, when I was browsing the internet looking for tattoo ideas, I realised that many sites charge money to do translations to the Devnagiri (Hindi, Marathi) script for tattoos. Being born and brought up here in Mumbai, I am pretty well versed in the language and know to do Devnagiri Translations accurately. David Beckham could have done with someone like me because his wife Victoria's translation name is wrong. My name in Devnagiri is मगाली । I am presently offering to do Devnagiri Translations for Tattoos absolutely free. If I get a good response I may start doing it professionally by the beginning of the year 2009. So anyone interested in having me translate their name for them leave a comment to this post with your email id and I will get in touch with your translation. Remember this is a trial period and next year I may start charging for this service so if you are interested then hurry up and leave a comment!

Shopping
Yesterday Mom took me to shopping to a popular skin care/make up brand outlet right af
ter my English exam. I totally splurged and got three new nail polishes (bringing my personal nail polish collection to 12). I also bought a new Mascara which incidentally turned out to be blue! I was a bit apprehensive about the colour at first but it turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! I get so happy after buying make-up though I hardly use eye make up because of my glasses and all. I was considering using lenses but they turned out to be an absolute head ache and glasses are so convenient. Is there anyone reading this who uses lenses either occasionally or on a daily basis??? Please leave a comment bacuse I have a few qustions. Thanks.

College Rulz!
Ok, It's been quite some time since College started, so I am used to it now. At first I was a little apprehensive, about being in a co-ed area, about ragging, dressing up etc. But now I really think college is nice, not as scary as the prospect seemed at first. I have even made a few new friend. Here's one of them. She's Brinny.

RIP
As usual, I spaced out too much between posts. Lot has happened since the last post. We now use internet on the laptop, I came down with a bad case of flu and I recovered, too (I know that was a really stupid rhyme). I've made new friends in college, too.
I just opened the paper on Sunday and was shocked to see the following headline- "Comedian Bernie Mac passes away" This came just three days after I re-watched "Guess Who" (which is one of my favourite comedy films along with Pink Panther and Rush Hour 3) and about a mont
h since I watched "Charlie's Angels:Full Throttle"
Even after I read the details of his death I just could't believe it as I considered him one of the best stand-up comedians.
I was really in shock the whole day.
Bernie Mac, May your soul rest in Peace.

When you think of India, what comes to mind?
Today in French classes our teacher asked us what reminds us of France. So a list was made- fashion (haute couture, la mode), Mona Lisa (La Jaconde) and so on. It then struck me that because of some supposedly brilliant people like Satyajit Ray imported poverty, ignorant Americans whould answer that same question of India something like this- Ganesh, Flying Carpets, Elephants, Jungles. It's so sick because while France's first university was in ADs, India first brilliant university Takshila was flourishing in BCs and people from all over the world came to study. When Christopher Columbus found America, he was searching for India and he thought he had found it so he called the local inhabitants 'Indians' (Hence the name 'Red Indians' for native Americans.
We were also RICH in natural resources and till the early 20th century, India was the ONLY source of diamonds in the world. And that huge diamond on the crown of that dim-witted queen of England? The ko-hi-noor (mountain of light)? That's ours. How many countries can boast of a profile like that?
And by the way, I was wondering, if I was taking German classes and the teacher asked me that same quetion, could I mention Oktoberfest? The only five things that Germany is famous for is Hitler, Nazism, Eau de Cologne, Beer and Greedy Obese People.

French Class
Well as usual I spaced out too much between my posts and so much is left unsaid. So I'll keep it brief. College was supposed to start today but it's delayed and will start on Monday. I got my new laptop! It's awesome. I've been taking French classes since about a week now and am starting to enjoy it. It's thrice a week, my teacher is good and she's one of the few people who can pronounce my name right because it's French.

Singh is not Kinng!
As most of my friends and family know, I am a great fan of Snoop Dogg. No, a Huge fan of
Snoop Dogg. He has been my favorite ever since I was in eight grade, and right now I am starting eleventh grade in eight days. I recently purchased two Snoop Dogg CDs, and have been listening to his music non-stop for about a week. I also check out Snoop Dogg's official site and Wikipedia page quite often, it keeps me pretty much updated. Like just a week ago when I found out that Snoop Dogg has announced that the name of his upcoming album will me 'Malice In Wonderland.'
Well, I was just doing that yesterday when I stumbled across this line on his Wikipedia page-
Snooop Dogg has recently ventured into singing for Bollywood with his first ever rap for an Indian movie Singh Is Kinng; the title of the song is also Sing
h is Kinng. The album featuring the song was released on June 8, 2008 on Junglee Music Records .
Ok, So I was really happy at first to hear it, the familiar Snoop D O Double G and all and specially the part about 'Whaddup to all the ladies hanging out in Mumbai.' (mainly because i'm one of them.) But I couldn't help but think back to little over a year ago when Akon came to Mumbai as part of the promotions for a Music Channel and the fact that every roadside wannabe or tapori guys as we call them were singing Smack That aloud every time I pass because they knew that I was the type that only listened to English music and frowned on Bollywood music. Their singing went something like this-
Smek Det, Oll On De Floor
Smek Det, Geev Me Some More
Smek Det, Teel You Get Sore
Smek Det, OOooo
There's no need to mention how recounting those memories fills me with utter disgust and right now I think that if the song becomes popular, (and it probably will because it's so catchy) that every single guy on the road will be trying to 'rap' a Snoop Dogg song. Well, if I look on the bright side this may pave the way for a Snoop Dogg concert in Mumbai which I have always wished to attend.(That's is of course if My Mother allows me, she fears sending me because of frequent reports of molestation at these sort of concerts.) I also hate most bollywood films, few exceptions to that being 'Cheeni Kum' and 'Taxi Number Nau Do Gyarah.' Mum and me discussed about how most Indians are Bollywood addicts and quite a lot of Bollywood movies successes depend on their soundtrack.
But I still think that Snoop Dogg's entry into Bollywood will be the cheapening of a genius. Or maybe he's not a genius, maybe he's just a greedy lustful idiot who makes pretty good music.

Back !
Hey it's me. The same me, yet slightly different. Well, I finished school, not with a great percentage, but I am getting admission in a college that was my original second choice. I got lots of photos from my two-month vacation on the ship, though no one has seen them yet because I haven't uploaded or got prints of them yet!
Though I didn't get my target percentage (My parents had promised to get me a laptop if I did.) My parents are still getting me one. I didn't expect it and am really thankful.
I am getting internet access after over a month! (I always follow my Mum's philosophy about never being able to live without anything!)
I also added a cute, expensive designer (It's by an Indian fashion designer named Remanika) cotton dress to my never ending wardrobe.
Mum took me to Planet M! the other day and got me two Snoop Dogg CDs- 'The Best of Snoop Dogg' and his latest album 'Ego Trippin.' I love almost each and every song on them.
She also got me an ultra expensive Clarins body polisher.
Well, seeing as how almost everthing in this post is about all the stuff (expensive stuff too!) that mum has either boutght or is in the process of buying, I guess I really should be very very thankful to her. THANKS MUM AND DAD!!!!
Well, I am still lazy about uploading my pictures but I surely will, one of these days. I even think I know which one to add!
I do promise to update more after I start college, I'm really nervous about the whole college co-education and casual dress code. These monsoons are putting a real dampner on any of my 'fashion-energy' as I call it.(Fashion energy mean the actual wish that I have to dress up fashionably. I have LOTS of jewelery, some really cute Pierre Cardin stuff and lots of chunky jewellery two, LOTS of make-up and a Whole Lotof clothes stashed into one big and one medium sized. So fashion-energy for me means the actual want to dress up fashionably. My fashion energy is usually very low because I just slip on somthing casual like a pair of jeans and T-Shirt.
Lots more to typing to do, will post more later. Bye for Now!

Hello Again!
Hi all the readers of my blog!(If any exist, that is)
Well I know I didn't get to post cause I was absolutely crazy listening to Snoop Dogg's Sensual Seduction over and over. Well lots of things happened since I last posted. I joined My dad's ship for example. It's full name is Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon PVC. It's nice on board, I clicked lots of pictures. Here I am, in a dinghy little Cyber Cafe in Cochin, Kerala, India. The ship sails out tomorrow morning at 0700 (That's obviously 7 AM) I really wanted to post some pictures but here I am, both my camera and my external hard drive and my iPods are on board. I'll surely post at the next given oppurtunity. I've also taken to sketching since I went on board, and have done three pretty stunning sketches- One of the back of the ship, one of a fishing boat and one of the phone on my Dad's desk in his office. I know i'm being like the donkey praising her own tail, but they really are pretty good! So this is Magali, signing out. Bye for now

Freedom!
"It's freedom at last for me I am sooooooooooo happy" that's what I was expecting to say. Then came the grandmom from hell. Let's start at the beginning. Many people don't have grandparents. They either have three, two, one or none. I had all four of them. But I don't really think they liked me. For years in my childish innocence I tried to get through to my grandmom, my Mom's Mom. But she always loved her son's two kids. She left everything for my my uncle, my mom was the one she turned to when she needed anything. Mum never said No, but she did it out of obligation, not love. Grandma never loved her either. But then she made a big mistake. She signed off the house in Mumbai to conniving son, grand daughters started ill treating her when she lived in her own house. Now that unwanted old women is being DUMPED on Mum and me for 11 days! That's right eleven days of my precious vacation, that includes my sixteenth birthday!
I absolutely hate that woman, the opnly thing she knows to do is make use of Mom and me!!! And I also hate that even though both of us didn't like the idea, she taking her in to be civil. I also hate that A Bitch of a cousin I have named Melsa, gets to blare music loudly and chase her grandma out of her own house (That's right, her dad's a useless motor mechanic who only finished high school) My Dad can afford two houses in pretty good areas of Mumbai because he worked really hard. I HAVE TO MENTION THAT ALL THE MONEY, HOUSES ETC THAT WE OWN NOW ARE FROM MY DAD'S EARNINGS AFTER MARRIAGE, DID I MENTION MY OTHER GRANDMOTHER IS ALSO A BIG BITCH WHO SWINDLED DAD. That's right, that's my family! The only thing I liked about yesterday is when I was almost in tears, about why my cousin gets to ill treat her and chase her out of my own house, my mom is dictating terms to me about who te be nice to her, my mom actually heard me up and didn't argue.
I HATE HER!!! MY VACATIONS ARE RUINED!!!

Last Minute Paranoia
OK, I knew this was coming so why am I so hyper?
Why, you ask? Let me fill you in.
I am in tenth standard, the final year of school. In a little more than a month from now, my board exams will begin. I have vowed to study, and am starting to do that.
Also tomorrow is my farewell party. The farewell party. Something every kid looks forward to from the time they enter school.
And it's this little tradition all over Mumbai that a girl must wear a saree for her farewell, symbolic of her 'Becoming a Lady'. It's like this kind of unwritten rule.
And then there's me, ever the rebel, who decided I would not wear a saree, I would wear something else, and look spectacular. Girls have been getting their sarees ready in the ninth standard. Farewell is tomorrow, and I still haven't decided what I'm going to wear.
I'm comforting myself, I have loads of branded clothes that I've shopped for in the past four months, over half of them have never been worn by me.
Anyways, I'm sure even P!nk must have been slightly nervous about the hairdo she was sporting at the 2006 MTV VMAs. I know I can pull this off, even though every (and I mean EVERY) girl I meet keeps asking me, "Magali, is your saree ready? Which colour?". These are just some last minute nerves. My nails are filed, I'll get my eyebrows done this evening. I'll pick out an outfit. And I'll look Great! I'll post some pictures tomorrow or if not then on Sunday!

School's Out!
Well, I can't believe I'm saying this, but school is finally over. And I'm Happy. Today was officially the last day of normal school. Farewell's on Friday (And I'm still a little insecure of how good I'll look in the outfit I've chosen). I just can't believe it. I know I'll always look back to this day. I know now that I've reached a fork in the road, no I think crossroads.
All I got to work hard. the rest is to God. Or to my karma. I will begin to do just that. Starting with Marathi.
